The HRM teams have an utmost responsibility to create a zero tolerance culture on harassment. (2015) With assistance from the ILO, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce & the Employers' Federation of Ceylon have encouraged Sri Lankan companies the implement the "Code of Conduct" to prevent sexual harassment. Employers need to include provisions related to sexual harassment in the company's code of conduct. The Sri Lankan Penal Code defines sexual harassment as unwanted sexual approaches made by a person in a position of power at work. An individual who engages in harassment may be sentenced to up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.
